Nickelodeon and Paramount recently pulled the curtain off of the live-action Dora the Explorer adaptation Dora and the Lost City of Gold, giving us two posters that gave us first looks at Dora (Isabela Moner), Boots (Danny Trejo), Backpack, and Map.

Dora the Explorer has been around for generations and is a widely popular Nickelodeon children's cartoon which encourages children and adults alike to learn Spanish.

The movie, slated for release on August 2, follows teenage Dora as she embarks on an adventure to save her parents and explore the lost city.

Having been brought up surrounded by jungles, Dora (Isabela Moner) finds herself sticking out like a sore thumb when she is enrolled into a city high school.

Mali president sacks generals after deadly raids on ethnic villages
After the attacks the government announced that the commanders of the Malian military would be changed. A local mayor says pregnant women were cut open with machetes and people were thrown down wells.

Though the trailer doesn't seem to include Dora's conniving villain Swiper or her trusty sidekick Map, the adventurous now-teenaged explorer is still seen wearing her iconic pink shirt, orange shorts ensemble. And while I wouldn't be placing Dora into "must see" status after the below trailer, it looks alright. Dora's adventures will take audiences to Machu Picchu where they'll explore the Incan culture.

It is helmed by British director James Bobin - who has somehow gone from Da Ali G Show to this, via Flight of the Conchords and The Muppets. And remember Dora: just be cool.

Jeffrey Wahlberg (Counterpart) plays Dora's cousin Diego, while Eugenio Derbez (Overboard) plays Alejandro, described as "a mysterious jungle inhabitant who tries to protect the teenagers from the marauders".
