Vice President Mike Pence is claiming that special counsel Robert Mueller has delivered "total vindication" of President Donald Trump.

"The investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired with the Russian government in its election interference activities", Barr wrote, citing a confidential report that Mueller submitted to the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday, marking an end to his almost two-year investigation. In Barr's letter, he explained that he and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had concluded the president had not obstructed justice from their reading of the report. The "difficult issues of law" could be referring to the only legal guidance we have on the topic, a Department of Justice memo stating that "The indictment or criminal prosecution of a sitting President would unconstitutionally undermine the capacity of the executive branch to perform its constitutionally assigned functions".
