The company led off the event with an announcement that its free news app will now come in a paid-subscription version, called Apple News+, which curates a range of news articles and will include 300 magazines including National Geographic, People, Popular Science, Billboard and the New Yorker.

According to Apple, all the games on Apple Arcade will be available to play offline. Pricing was not announced. As Cheddar noted, the company's push for the services comes as Apple is looking to expand its revenue as hardware sales are stalling and amid a surge in streaming and subscription services.

They then confirmed they'd be launching Apple Arcade, which is the "world's first games subscription service for mobile, desktop and the living room". Apple Arcade will launch in Fall 2019.

As previously reported by Cheddar, Apple will publish games itself, but today's event didn't include news about specific first-party titles or efforts.

Subscribers will be able to download and play any games which are included in the service so that they can test them out as they please.

The Apple News app aggregates premier news content from a variety of sources, including Global News, for iOS and Mac OS users. Apple News+ is now the only service where you will be able to get all of these magazines, all at once.
