Apple Arcade: everything you need to know about the mobile gaming service

Boasting a curated library of full games, Apple Arcade will not just be for games that came out on the App Store in the past, but new games from famous designers such as Will Wright (Sim City), Ken Wong (Monument Valley), and Hironobu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy) will also be coming to the platform.

For each subscription to Apple News+, users can have access to over 300 popular magazines, newspapers and digital publishers, with topics covering everything from entertainment, fashion and news, to politics, health, lifestyle and travel.

Additionally, with Apple News+, the app displays the magazines in specially designed layouts with animated covers, vivid images and bold typography, all optimized perfectly for Apple's devices.

Apple did not specify what will be made available by other publishers, leaving it to the publishers themselves to explain their role in the service.

Apple News and Apple News+ also available in Canada in both English and French for C$12.99.

Apple's Services announcements on Monday are pivotal to the company's forward-looking strategy, one that places a heavier emphasis on software services in an effort to offset flattening hardware sales. But Apple was quick to stress its games can be played offline and the company won't collect any data you don't agree to. Along with H.S., many, many other developers are creating games that are going to work exclusively in the Apple Arcade ecosystem. Apple's giving everyone a month of Apple News+ for free.

According to a report published by The Wall Street Journal on Sunday, general news, politics, and lifestyle-focused stories will generally get better placement on Apple's service over finance and business news. Even producers of Apple's shows are unsure about numerous details about when and how audiences will be able to see their work.

Pricing: Pricing details for Apple TV+ is yet to be revealed.

Apple unveiled a news subscription service called Apple News+ at its services event in Cupertino, Calif. Monday. Given that newspaper or magazine subscriptions typically range from $10-$40 a month and the $9.99 price point for Apple's own news subscription service, it's unsurprising some media outlets balked at Apple's revenue-sharing terms.

The service is launching in 150 countries around the world this Spring - and that includes Australia.
