The 68-year-old GM said he knows the Giants did not sign Beckham last summer to a $90 million deal to trade him, but things changed when the Browns made a value-packed offer that "knocked it out of the park" and allowed NY to address multiple positions on a team coming off a 5-11 record.

After a potential trade for then-Steelers receiver Antonio Brown fell through, Bills G.M. Brandon Beane said that "our focus is on free agency".

Dave Gettleman is a disciple of Ernie Accorsi, who similarly tried to scare up offers with the Chargers in the Eli Manning trade of 2004. To get another one (first-round pick), this year is number 17, and to get that kind of a value in this type of a draft, and to get a third-round pick completing our dance card for April, it was just too much to pass up. "The obvious question is why, " Gettleman said on Monday. The only other team known to have been involved was the San Francisco 49ers, who were unwilling to cough up the No. 2 overall pick in exchange for Beckham. I want everyone to know this was purely a football business decision. There's no intrigue, there's no he-said, she-said, none of that stuff. We did not enter this decision to trade Odell lightly.

Apple Launches New 10.5-inch iPad Air, Fifth-Generation iPad Mini
Apple today rolled out new iPad models , including a refresh for the iPad mini which was last updated three and a half years ago . It will remain available to purchase from third-party retailers until all stock is sold, which could take some time.

"The Giants need high picks and/or productive players". He added that time will tell whether the Giants made a good deal.

"I completely understand why people would debate the merits of this deal. With football being the ultimate team sport, we turned that fact into three assets", Gettleman said, according to Tom Rock of Newsday.

Gettleman said it was not his responsibility to discuss the Giants' plan for the future. You ask me about my mantra of quitting on talent, and yes, I believe that fully, but quitting on talent is when you cut a player or get marginal value in return, and we all know this did not happen here. It's an instant gratification society. You have to trust it.
