Mets chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon says in a release the organization "is thrilled the Syracuse community will have a chance to connect with our players up close and personal". He went 4-for-15 with three strikeouts and a walk in eight spring training games for the Mets.

"Last year just at the start was so disappointing, Day 1 getting injured, and then it's like an uphill battle the whole time, just very frustrating", Tebow said in an interview with MLB.com, "Every day, I'm all-in on pursuing this". He just won't begin the season in the majors.

Soon after being reassigned to minor league camp, Tebow was not only asked about his spring, but also some unsolicited swing advice from Jose Canseco. The Mets open the regular season on March 28 at Washington against the Nationals. "If not, either way, I'm going to continue working as hard as I can to be the best that I can".

In 84 games last season with Double-A Binghamton, Tebow batted.273 with six homers and 36 RBIs. "One day it's good enough to do that, that would be really fun". The talented shortstop hit.250/.333/.500 in nine games this spring, though he did show some nerves at times.
