Chelsea’s Sarri unhappy with sorry state of Kiev pitch

Chelsea will take on Dynamo Kyiv in the second leg of the Europa League round of 16 tie, and will be fairly confident of progressing into the next round.

The Blues thrashed the Ukrainian outfit 5-0 at the Olympyskiy Stadium to clinch their biggest away win of the season, with Olivier Giroud bagging a marvellous hat-trick. "He can become one of the best midfielders not only in England, but in Europe".

"He did very well".

"I'm very pleased with all of the goals I scored and the assist I give to Callum, we gave a great team performance today", he told BT Sport after the match. "He has been able to train after the problem with the back".

"I don't know the reason, probably winter, because I played here two years ago and the pitch was wonderful (but it is now) very, very risky". Physically, technically, he is improving tactically.

Piling on more pressure, Nicholls reached a chanceless century from 122 balls and was out for 107 shortly before the declaration. Mominul Haque only scored 10 runs before he was caught by Tim Southee at third slip off the bowling of Boult.

Meanwhile, Hudson-Odoi will hope to start at the expense of Pedro on the opposite wing while Ruben Loftus-Cheek is in contention for a midfield berth.

Giroud completed his ideal hat trick - goals with the left and right foot and one with his head - in the 59th minute with a towering header from a Willian free kick to make it 4-0 as the rout continued. His nine goals make up an impressive 36% of goals scored by the Blues in the Europa League, having scored them all in his last seven appearances. "I'm really very happy for him".

"I prefer to find them in the final", Chelsea's head coach said when informed that Napoli had also qualified.

"We played a wonderful first half and managed the game in the second half".

He said: "We started very well, I think, and we wanted to start in this way because it was really very important to score after the result at Stamford Bridge".
