More than 8 students has been killed in a shooting and two adults was also killed in the attack at the Rail Brasil State School in Suzano.

Two gunmen wearing face masks entered a Brazilian school on Wednesday and shot dead at least five teenagers as well as two school officials, before fatally turning their gun on themselves, police said.

Police of that area is on high alert and two helicopters were dispatched to assist the cops.

Sao Paulo governor Joao Doria said on Twitter the "children were cruelly murdered".

After shooting at students in the yard, the attackers headed to the language centre where several pupils were hiding and "committed suicide in a corridor", Sales said.

Speaking a few blocks from the public school in Suzano, Mr Doria said: "The school is on lockdown". Before Wednesday, the last school shooting in Brazil occurred in 2011 when 12 children were killed by a former student in a Rio de Janeiro school. Investigators said they had a pact to die together in the attack although Globo TV, citing police, reported that Monteiro killed Castro, and then turned the pistol on himself.
