On Monday 4, 2019, a minivan driver nearly lost his life after he was allegedly choked by a passenger who was unhappy with him singing Christmas songs in March.

The incident occurred on Route 28, just before the exit 13 onramp, in East Deer Township, Pennsylvania, at around 9 a.m., KDKA reported. When he tried to handcuff Lucas, the suspect allegedly resisted and physical force was used to restrain him, the complaint states.

When he got to the scene, investigators say the trooper spotted a Chrysler Town and Country minivan parked on the shoulder, and two men on the other side of the guide rail.

The driver was singing and playing Christmas music when Lucas became mad and started to hit and choke the victim.

The driver told authorities that Lucas allegedly began to choke him in an effort to make him stop singing Christmas songs. It was also unclear whether the victim knew Lucas or whether he was a taxi or rideshare driver.

The driver told police at the scene that Lucas restricted the air and blood from around his neck to the point he was about to pass out.

At last report, Lucas was lodged in the Allegheny County Jail, facing aggravated assault and other offenses.

When Pennsylvania State Police tried to arrest Lucas, he allegedly wouldn't cooperate and refused to listen to their orders, before he eventually was taken into custody.
