But given the contracts being handed out early in the NFL's legal tampering period, it's likely to be a gaudy deal for a player who has produced for only one season.

Tuesday, one year after the Packers tried - and failed - to lure restricted free agent cornerback Kyle Fuller away from their rivals, they landed safety Adrian Amos.

"Amos is an excellent safety who's been great for Chicago over the past couple of seasons", The Ringer's Robert Mays writes.

Two of the biggest signings this off season is expected to be Nick Foles to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders. The deal is extremely front-loaded, as Schefter noted that $11 million of it is going to Turner in the first year of the deal.

Smith could be coming in at the same time another Kentucky star is on his way out of Green Bay.

Many cars waited until late in the session to make a qualifying run and that caused cars to run up on competitors on the track. McDowell said he plans to have another conversation with Suarez prior to Sunday's TicketGuardian 500.

In his fourth season with the Ravens, Smith reached career highs with 45 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss and 25 quarterback hits as Baltimore fielded the NFL's top defense in 2018.

Needless to say, it's probably killing Thompson (who is now in a Senior Advisor role with the Packers) inside to see the team he was general manager of for so long hand out $183 million worth of contracts before free agency and the new league year officially open on Wednesday.

The Packers certainly aren't afraid to pay for upgrades.

Smith's deal will be for four years and $52 million, with $16 million guaranteed. Playing in 60 of 64 game for the Bears the last four seasons, he had 274 total tackles with three interceptions with 18 deflected passes, including a career-high nine this season.

For now, the Packers have made substantial improvements to a defense that desperately needed them.
