"I honestly look like Stretch Armstrong!"

Unbeknown to Beckham, the exclusive reveal had been hijacked by his friend James Corden, host of "The Late Late Show" on American TV, whose props team built an altogether less flattering version of the actual sculpture. Up next came a highlight reel of Beckham's biggest soccer feats, which included a few unnecessary "lows", leaving the star shaking his head in disbelief.

In the video below, the prank's process began two months earlier with their props department at CBS.

Government lawyers are expected to answer a request by Huong's lawyers for the government to drop the murder charge against her. Authorities believe that North Korean agents recruited Huong, who hails from Vietnam, while she worked at a bar in Hanoi.

Finding it hysterical, Corden then rushed in to reveal the joke, cue lots of bleeped expletives from Beckham, embarrassed that he'd fallen for it, but mightily relieved this wasn't the real deal. I really don't see how this can go out.

But as the football legend talked about how "embarrassing" the situation was, a forklift "accident" saw the impersonating statue meet an untimely end. The ex-player still wasn't happy but at least remarked to the guilty party, "You've probably done me a favour there".

In a dummy ceremony, which Beckham attended believing he was being given a preview before the statue was unveiled to the public, the 43-year-old just about kept his cool when the unflattering likeness was unveiled.

It's not until Corden comes running out to inquire into the crash that Beckham finally realizes he's been had, breaking into a defeated smile and hugging the bestie who bested him.
