Nancy Pelosi says Donald Trump ‘just not worth’ the hassle of impeachment

When asked if she thought Trump had done anything good for America, Pelosi quipped: "He's been a great organizer for Democrats, a great fundraiser for Democrats and a great mobilizer at the grass-roots level for Democrats". Trump has denied wrongdoing and called the investigation a witch-hunt.

But they are only rumours, and have been proven wrong before. As long as Republicans assert that they disagree the president should be impeached, the argument is, de facto, over, based on Pelosi's reasoning.

"This could be a tactical manoeuvre from Pelosi in order to actually secure the public release of the Muller report", he said.

The speaker's remarks ran counter to sentiments expressed by some freshman members of her caucus, most notably Rep. Rashida Tlaib of MI, who vowed to Democratic activists that she would help "impeach the motherf--er" hours after she was sworn in this past January. Still, her comments will nearly certainly infuriate the far-left wing of the party, which has been clamoring to begin impeachment proceedings over controversies ensnaring the Trump administration.

A few Democratic members of Congress have already introduced articles of impeachment. She could say instead that many of Trump's actions are indeed impeachable, but that actual process isn't feasible right now. "It backfired on them badly", Dr Smith said.

"So enacting impeachment in the House would be a purely symbolic gesture."
She says she's against impeachment.

It shouldn't be forgotten that Mr Trump remains enormously popular with a significant chunk of American voters, despite his historically low approval ratings.

Still, nobody has found anything against Trump that appears significant enough that it could potentially lead to an impeachment conviction.

Also on Friday, the Cardinals announced they have released veteran safety Antoine Bethea and quarterback Mike Glennon. He's only played in 12 games over the past two seasons - missing all but five games previous year to a knee injury.

House Democrats are aggressively investigating President Trump, his family, and others associated with him, in addition to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into the Trump campaign.

Most House Democrats agree that they should give the chairmen of investigative committees the space to conduct their probes before engaging in serious impeachment discussions.

By taking impeachment of Mr Trump off the table, Dr Smith believes we're seeing the beginnings of how Democrats plan to campaign in 2020.

"The way the Democrats won [in 2018] was mainly by talking about healthcare".

"I'm not for impeachment", she told the magazine, adding she was aware she was breaking news with the announcement.

When she became House Speaker in 2007, she resisted pressure from her liberal flank to launch impeachment proceedings against former president George W. Bush over the Iraq War. The House Judiciary Committee, which would oversee any impeachment inquiry, demanded documents last week from 81 individuals tied to Mr. Trump as it opened a burgeoning investigation into potential obstruction of justice and abuse of power.

"And regarding Trump's anti-NATO sentiments, the former vice president said they "[feed] this notion on the part of our allies overseas, especially in North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, that we're not long for that continued relationship, that we're looking eagerly to find ways where somebody else will pick up the tab".
