Chiefs Kingdom responds very favorably to Tyrann Mathieu signing

The Chiefs were aggressive with Mathieu, who they viewed as the best and most complete safety on the free-agent market.

Despite pawing at the safety market at the trade deadline previous year, the Chiefs may end up in a better place with Mathieu, who will turn 27 just before training camp.

The request from the Cardinals to take a cut in pay after the 2017 season caused Mathieu to move on from the team that selected him in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Last season he agreed to a one-year, $7 million contract to play for Houston.
