Raheem Sterling's hat-trick in Manchester City's 3-1 win over Watford lifted the champions four points clear at the top of the Premier League after Tottenham Hotspur's challenge faltered again with a 2-1 loss at Southampton yesterday.

Belgian worldwide Lukaku scored two goals to give Manchester United a priceless 3-1 win at Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in their last 16-second leg clash and that was more than enough for the Red Devils to secure a quarterfinal spot on away goals.

The winger was clear ahead of the Watford defence, but a touch from right-back Daryl Janmaat clouded proceedings as he kicked the ball onto Sterling's shin and watched it loop over goalkeeper Ben Foster and into the net.

And it look to be another tense affair for Pep Guardiola's men after a goalless first half.

While Kane was not close enough to be attempting to play the ball under the interpretation of the laws given to Premier League officials, Sterling was just a yard away when Janmaat intervened. "In my head, I am hoping and praying (that the first goal would be awarded)".

- Deufoleu's goal for Watford came just 17 seconds after the Spaniard came off the bench, the fastest by a substitute in the Premier League since Sammy Ameobi netted for Newcastle against Tottenham in October 2014 (eight seconds). "We got it and it kick-started our game".

"The first half was difficult even for myself, it was hard to break them down", Sterling said.

The goal was initially ruled out by the assistant, but the referee opted to overule the decision after a lengthy discussion on the touchline.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have settled to share the spoils in their last three league games but the two-time Premier League victor thinks they are capable of winning their maiden league title despite behind a point behind leaders Manchester City. We made an incredible game, we played well in the first half and had only one shot on target - their goal - against us.

Guardiola said, "He can do better".

Ward-Prowse's stunning free-kick victor left Spurs on 61 points, 13 behind Man City and nine adrift of Liverpool.

FC Porto achieved the 3-1 result for a 4-3 aggregate win at the end of extra time after regulation time ended 2-1 with Marega getting the second goal.

Fellow strugglers Brighton & Hove Albion also had reason to cheer as a dazzling individual goal from Anthony Knockaert sealed their 2-1 win at fierce rivals Crystal Palace.

There seems, however, no hope for Fulham under caretaker manager Scott Parker, after their defeat at Leicester, whose own new boss Brendan Rodgers was grateful for Vardy's late double.
