Singer R Kelly charged with sexual abuse: United States media

Prosecutors in Chicago have charged Grammy-winning singer R Kelly with multiple counts of sexual abuse.

In a brief appearance before reporters, Cook County State's Attorney's Kim Foxx announced the 10 counts against the 52-year-old Grammy victor.

Steven Greenberg, R. Kelly's attorney, told the newspaper this afternoon (February 22) that his client was not notified of the warrant.

Cook County State's Attorney Kimberly Foxx said Kelly was expected to appear in court on Saturday for a bond hearing on 10 counts.

In a bombshell development, R&B superstar R. Kelly was indicted Friday on charges he sexually abused four victims, at least three of them underage, over a span of a dozen years.

Singer Lady Gaga, who had recorded a duet with Kelly, vowed to never collaborate with him again.

Two women claim Kelly picked them out of a crowd at a Baltimore after-party in the mid-1990s when they were underage and had sex with one of the teens although she was under the influence of marijuana and alcohol.

"It's over. After 25 years of serial sexual abuse and assault of underage girls, the day of reckoning for R Kelly has arrived", Avenatti triumphantly announced in a series of tweets.

The charges come shortly after Michael Avenatti handed over a sex tape to authorities of Kellz allegedly engaging in sexual acts with a minor.

In 2008, the singer was tried and acquitted on child pornography charges in Chicago. Through his lawyers, he has consistently denied them. Nevertheless, he said that he is confident that it's still within the statute of limitations, which means he can still be tried in court.

Two women testified for the grand jury over the last week, including one who provided physical evidence.

Introduced by their attorney, Gloria Allred, who called Kelly a "sexual predator", Scaff spoke first, reading from a prepared statement, and told in great detail the story of how she and friend, Washington, met Kelly after a concert in 1995. "She is heard calling him "daddy" multiple times".
