He was taken into police custody Thursday facing a felony charge of disorderly conduct and released after the hearing later that day.

Season 2, Episode 4 of the show, reportedly saw Smollett visit that National memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Ala.to discuss lynching.

"When anyone makes false claims to police, it not only diverts resources away from serious investigations but it makes it more hard for other victims of crime to come forward", said Harris, a former prosecutor.

"In light of - and with respect to - the sensitivities around recent events, we can confirm that Epix is no longer making available the episode of "America Divided" featuring Jussie Smollett", a spokesperson for Epix told Fox News in a statement. The actor claimed he had been attacked by two masked men who were yelling racial and homophobic slurs in the early hours of January 29. "While these allegations are very disturbing, we are placing our trust in the legal system as the process plays out".

Speaking of that $3,500, Barkley also tore into Smollett's decision - according to police - that he wrote a check to brothers Ola and Abel Osundairo for that amount, which no doubt greatly simplified cops' tying Smollett to the alleged caper. "Why would anyone, especially an African-American man, use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations?" Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said investigators believe he staged the attack because he was unhappy with his pay on Empire. How could someone look at the hatred and suffering associated with that symbol and see an opportunity to manipulate that symbol to further his own public profile?

Honda's New Announcement Will Result to Closure
Surely the U.K.'s plan to leave the European Union is going to disrupt commerce across the board, including the auto industry. The restructure will also impact Honda's automobile operations in Turkey, where it produces 38,000 units per year.

In a bond proffer, shared online by Variety and others, prosecutors claim Smollett gave Abimbola $100 to purchase rope, ski masks and other items allegedly linked to the attack.

"The presumption of innocence, a bedrock in the search for justice, was trampled upon at the expense of Mr. Smollett", the statement read.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) has spoken out against Jussie Smollett after the "Empire" actor was charged by police for allegedly filing a false police report. Smollett has been accused with arranging a homophobic, racist attack against himself in an attempt to raise his profile because he was dissatisfied with his salary.

Smollett's legal team has vowed to launch an "aggressive defense" in his favor, which, given the mountain of evidence against him, will be quite a challenge.
