The Fortnite World Cup will take place in New York City from July 26-28 and feature a $30M United States dollars prize pool.

That idea has now become a reality, with the first Fortnite World Cup set to begin on April 13. Each week, players will compete for $1 million in prize pools that will be distributed broadly.

Honda's New Announcement Will Result to Closure
Surely the U.K.'s plan to leave the European Union is going to disrupt commerce across the board, including the auto industry. The restructure will also impact Honda's automobile operations in Turkey, where it produces 38,000 units per year.

Running from 8 April to June 16, the online qualifying rounds will be open to all eligible Fortnite players, each round offering $1m in prize money for high-performing entrants. Epic Games will also be continuing its in-game weekly $1m tournaments. Two hundred players will compete in the World Cup (100 solos and 50 duos teams), and everyone will earn a minimum of $50,000. Plus, $1 million in weekly tournaments will continue through the end of the year. While people may look down their nose at the game or straight-up ridicule its competitive efforts, this is the biggest prize pool an esports event has ever had and displays Epic Games' dedication towards the industry. Last June, Epic Games held a Fornite tournament during the E3 video game conference in Los Angeles and filled the Banc of California Stadium with 15,000 fans. These will feature a variety of different formats "to open up the competitive playing field", according to the company.
