OnePlus says that attendees at MWC will experience "5G gaming" on the OnePlus 5G prototype device.

OnePlus is reportedly planning to release the new smartphone by the end of May this year, through the United Kingdom carrier EE, CNET reported. Qualcomm announced a year ago that it has finished designing a 5G modem for smartphones and from the looks of it, OnePlus 7 will be one of the first smartphones to adopt it. The device could be a gaming-oriented phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and an X50 modem. Other than OnePlus, Samsung is reportedly also planning to develop a 5G-capable phone.

Pete Lau, CEO and founder of OnePlus, said: The pursuit of speed has defined the OnePlus DNA since OnePlus was founded five years ago. "Today, we stand poised to embrace the dawn of 5G". On the bright side of things, OnePlus is surely going to invite journalists to the private panel which means that we will get coverage on the smartphone's highlight features.

Both of them will also make goodwill speeches at the signing of a peace accord by the presidential candidates ahead of the elections.

Hopefully anyway. There's no telling what changes might be made to the phone between now and release, and what's on show might not anything like what goes on sale later this year.

It's interesting to note, however, that, despite its capacity to run demanding games with relative ease, OnePlus didn't mention that the prototype phone is able to download videos faster, play high-definition movies clearer, and allow for smooth streaming. No, the company isn't launching the OnePlus 7 or the OnePlus 7T. It is fully possible the company may showcase a 5G variant of the OnePlus 6T like how other manufacturers are doing now.

OnePlus has been playing with teasers for its first 5G smartphone for quite some time.

The announcement of the 5G demonstration at MWC was posted by XDA Developers. The company expects to sell the device by the end of May through the United Kingdom carrier EE.
