Juve, however, had always been the favourites for Ramsey's signature despite a host of other top European clubs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, being linked.

Arsenal and Wales global midfielder Aaron Ramsey has signed a pre-contract agreement with Juventus and will join the Scudetto holders on July 1 on a four-year deal.

Ramsey's deal at Emirates Stadium expires in June and he had already confirmed his intention to leave after negotiations over a new deal were ended by the club.

The BBC's David Ornstein reports that Ramsey will earn £400,000 a week, making him the highest-earning British player in the world.

Ramsey signed for Arsenal from Cardiff City in the summer of 2008 and despite having faced hardships in the initial parts of his career with the Gunners owing to injuries, the Wales worldwide had grown into an integral part of the team in recent years.

She asked if he wanted to say goodbye to his facial hair, and Edelman said, "I love you, beard". Edelman agreed to it, and even matched her $10K donation.

Juventus said that the club are liable to pay 3.7 million euros ($4.1 million) by July 10 in the absence of a transfer fee.

Following the announcement, Ramsey issued a statement himself on his social media account.

Ramsey will bring to a close an 11-year run with Arsenal, having been part of three FA Cup winning sides turning his time with the Gunners after moving from Cardiff City in the summer of 2008.

He wrote: "You welcomed me as a teenager and have been there through all the highs and lows I've encountered during my time at the club".
