Netflix bills this as a way for customers to watch content they've already downloaded, and then have the system automatically download the next episode of that show you're trying to binge.

After arriving on Android last summer, Netflix Smart Downloads have arrived for iOS.

It's not that often that we see non-Google apps get exclusive features on Android, but it does happen, and Netflix proved as much back in July when it released a clever trick for its Android app.

With Smart Downloads, watching a TV episode offline results in the next episode automatically being transferred as soon as a Wi-Fi connection is available. The feature works by automatically downloading the next episode of a show when the user has finished watching the previous one. With new updates like the Smart Download app allowing viewers to stay tuned in with their favorite shows wherever, whenever, it's exciting to think about the possibilities where the industry is headed. If you'd rather keep watched episodes on your device and manually manage your downloaded content, visit the Downloads tab in the Netflix app and toggle Smart Downloads off.

While you don't need the internet to watch downloaded titles, you do need to be signed into your account.

Additionally, players will be able to influence the story through the choices they make throughout the quest line. Sony Pictures has just confirmed that the latest video game adaptation is set to arrive on September 4, 2020.

Scroll down and select App Settings. "The feature is one more way we're making it easier for Netflix fans to take the stories they love wherever they go", Netflix said in a statement. Then under the "Downloads" heading, use the toggle to turn Smart Downloads on or off.

Netflix first introduced offline viewing in 2016, though it was reluctant to add the feature at first even when a lot of users urged the video-streaming company to do so.

More importantly, the Smart Downloads feature deletes the first episode after it has been watched before the fourth episode is lined up for downloading, making sure that users don't run out of storage space. Some subscribers noticed a pop-up that asked them if they wish to "watch this scene again".

"The faster our members can get to the next episode of their favourite stories, the better".
