The Walking Dead returns to AMC this Sunday, February 10, at 9 PM on AMC.

Per THR, Gurira will return for The Walking Dead's tenth season on AMC, but not for every episode.

Joining Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan, now it is learned Danai Gurira is leaving The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead fans haven't seen Dwight (Austin Amelio) since the end of Season 8, when the former Savior was forced to leave Alexandria by Darryl (Norman Reedus).

According to the report, the "Black Panther" star and playwright will pop up in what they're calling "a limited capacity - described as only a handful of episodes" for her final season.

"She has been very vocal about saying that she loves the show", AMC programming president David Madden told The Hollywood Reporter in November. It's time once again to reflect upon the characters that we've loved - OK, in some cases, at best kinda put up with - and lost. "She is an incredibly valuable character and I'm really hoping she stays", he added. Obviously, the lesson of Andy is that the show can survive anybody's departure if need be but that's not our goal. Both of the Rick and Michonne characters are huge focusing points of Robert Kirkman's original source material, which the show is based on.

The Walking Dead is set to return to TV screens this weekend with another look at The Whisperers. "The goal is to have Danai continue on whatever basis she can make work, given the other things that she has going on in her life".

This is largely as a result of the success of Marvel film Black Panther, where Danai played Dora Milaje general Okoye. She also played a noticeable part in Avengers: Infinity War and is set to star in this year's follow-up, Endgame.
