The Manchester City left-back posted his location on Instagram as being at Hong Kong global airport and when this was put to Guardiola, whose press conference was being broadcast on Sky Sports, the manager signalled his confusion by swearing.

The World Cup-winning Manchester City full-back has had his fair share of injury trouble since arriving in England from Monaco in 2017, suffering another setback after he came off the bench in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at the end of January.

Mendy then took to Twitter and claimed it was a joke.

Guardiola confirmed the French defender was in Barcelona on Thursday after treatment on a knee injury, which has been forced to miss the last three months of the season. I didn't know it, f*ck he's a lucky guy.

'He's injured, it's not easy - meniscus. You can't return and train for two days and then you are fit.

Back in August, Guardiola suggested that Mendy should tone down his social media use, saying: 'Mendy has a lot of things to improve and hopefully we can convince him to forget a little bit the social media and improve a few things'.

Ding reportedly added that Huawei "has never and will never" use its equipment for Chinese state espionage. It is a complicated process and will take at least three to five years to see tangible results.

"Before, he said I'm going for a day to Paris", Guardiola explained.

"Wow", the City boss responded. Hong Kong, definitely not.

"Hong Kong? F--, is he?"

"I had tickets to go but the Premier League made a decision to put the game at Everton then".

Meanwhile, Guardiola rejected suggestions that Liverpool are feeling the pressure after back-toback draws saw them drop below City at the top of the table.
