And the Jeff Bezos dick pic commentary has begun

This comes after the National Enquirer published erotic text messages sent between him and his mistress Lauren Sanchez last month.

Bezos declined to do so. "They will publish the personal photos unless Gavin de Becker and I make the specific false public statement to the press that we 'have no knowledge or basis for suggesting that AMI's coverage was politically motivated or influenced by political forces'".

Bezos wrote that this week, the tabloid's editor, Dylan Howard, emailed an attorney for Bezos' longtime security consultant to describe photos the Enquirer "obtained during our newsgathering".

Bezos copy and pasted an email allegedly from Dylan Howard, AMI's COO, days after that initial threat was made, which claims that they have obtained nine lewd photos of Bezos and Sanchez in addition to a "below the belt selfie - otherwise colloquially known as a 'd*ck pick'".

"In the AMI letters I'm making public, you will see the precise details of their extortionate proposal", Bezos wrote. If in my position I can't stand up to this kind of extortion, how many people can?

AMI didn't demand any money from Mr. Bezos, the world's richest person - only that he call off his investigation and issue a statement saying the coverage wasn't political.

"Rather than capitulate to extortion and blackmail, I've chose to publish exactly what they sent me, despite the personal cost and embarrassment they threaten", Bezos wrote.

In its January 9 story, the Enquirer reported that Mr. Bezos sent "sleazy text messages and gushing love notes" to Ms. Sanchez, months before Mr. Bezos announced he was splitting up with his wife, MacKenzie.

But it was quarterback Tom Brady who actually swayed his head coach on the decision. An official White House visit date has not been announced.

On Feb. 5, The Post reported that Bezos and de Becker suspected that the source of the text and photo leaks may have been Sanchez's brother, Michael, a California public relations executive who is close to Pecker and various figures in Trump's orbit, including former campaign advisers Roger Stone and Carter Page.

AMI - which is run by David Pecker, a longtime pal of President Trump - has admitted to buying the rights to potentially embarrassing stories about the commander-in-chief in an effort to keep them from seeing the light of day. The National Enquirer admitted a year ago, according to the Southern District of NY police, to facilitating a USD$150,000 payment to former Playboy model Karen McDougal to retain exclusive rights to her story - some say to ensure the details weren't released until after the campaign.

AMI did not immediately return a request for comment.

On MSNBC Thursday night, Washington Post reporter Manuel Roig-Franzia said he had "spoken extensively" with the head of Bezos' investigation, security consultant Gavin de Becker. It admitted to "catch-and-kill" practices as part of a deal with federal prosecutors, who agreed to not pursue charges against the company.

The National Enquirer previously published an expose on Sanchez' and Bezos' relationship.

"It shows how complicated and unsafe it is to make an agreement with National Enquirer", Levenson said.
