The Super Blood Wolf Moon will be visible in the early hours of Monday morning.

The Planetarium at Union Station will offer an enhanced viewing of the super wolf blood moon on Sunday night. There will be food trucks as well as an "astrophotography" station for anyone interested in taking a photo of the eclipse with their phone; photographers with DSLRs are also welcome.

So, to recap: The moon will be closer to Earth than usual (a "super moon").

It's hard to predict the exact hue of lunar eclipses, but whatever shade results can offer insight about the chemistry of the Earth's atmosphere.

This celestial celebration occurs when Earth completely blocks direct sunlight from reaching the moon, with the only light reaching it is refracted by Earth's atmosphere to produce a reddish colour.

In the USA, the eclipse will begin relatively early Sunday evening, making it easier for children to stay up and enjoy the show.

"Wolf Moon" - a Native American term used to describe the first full moon of the year.

The entirety of the total lunar eclipse on Sunday night will be visible from all of North and South America, save for the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.

It is the second time in seven months a woman has been killed on her way home from a night out in Melbourne. Her sister "heard the sound of the phone falling to the ground and heard some voices", Police said.

Experts say there will be four more eclipses this year. You'll notice the moon getting significantly darker.

Once the eclipse is over on Sunday you won't get another glimpse of a Super Blood Wolf Moon until November 8, 2022.

The outcome depends a great deal on how much dust is in Earth's atmosphere, he said. For the keen sky-watchers the lunar disk will appear a few percent larger and brighter than usual making it a lovely sight to soak in and a great photo opportunity.

During totality, the moon will look red because of sunlight scattering off Earth's atmosphere. "It not only is a supermoon and it's a total eclipse, but the total eclipse also lasts pretty long". January's full moon was referred to as the Wolf Moon.

The Super Blood Wolf Moon will be cool to watch literally and figuratively. If you want to see this phenomenon, make sure you wrap up very warm, as temperatures of -2C at sea and -6C inland are expected.

Enjoy it. NASA says the next total lunar eclipse won't be until May 26, 2021.

Edmontonians will have the chance to view the lunar eclipse in style Sunday evening while celebrating with space-themed activities at the Telus World of Science.
