Early Outlook: Another strong winter storm invades Nebraska Friday

Winter Storm Harper's trajectory is still uncertain at this point, however, predictions have the storm moving through the central states and into the Northeast, bringing heavy snow to the Plains, New England, Pennsylvania and New York State in particular.

The rest of the day Friday will be cloudy with a high temperature climbing to around 40 degrees.

The heaviest snow is expected to hit the Chicago area late Friday afternoon and evening. The heaviest snow is expected over the Sierra Madre Range, where up to 2 feet of snow may fall over the next 36 hours especially on southwest facing slopes.

Snow will mix with rain and sleet at times, and the storm could last 24 hours through Sunday night, January 20, with the system wrapping up with evening snow showers.

A winter storm watch remains in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening across parts of northern CT.

South Jersey and DE can expect to see mostly rain Thursday into Friday.

No additional snow will fall on Saturday night.

NWS forecasters say precipitation types remain uncertain at this point, but there is "high confidence in a high liquid-equivalent event". The winds continue through Monday morning.
