This final season of the long-running series will be six episodes long, as opposed to its previous standard 10 episode seasons.

The show producers HBO announced the premiere date of the eighth season of Game of Thrones just before the premiere of the third season of True Detective. The teaser depicts Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, and Arya Stark in the crypts of Winterfell, where they encounter fallen heroes of their past. The makers have at last ended the suspense and also given the premiere date, which is April 14. However, HBO has promised that each of the six episodes will be longer and could run up to 90 minutes each!
