She also is now a patron of The National Theatre, The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and Mayhew.

It is one of four organisations of which Meghan has become patron, along with National Theatre and the Association of Commonwealth Universities - taking over from the Queen - and Mayhew.

She is set to take over two roles from The Queen, who is granting Meghan two of her patronages as a show of support and trust.

However, she trained in theatre and said she felt she could use her position to "focus attention on and make a particular difference to the sector".

At Smart Works, Meghan helped Patsy Wardally pick out some clothes.

Smart Works "helps unemployed women in their upcoming interviews by offering them an outfit to wear and 1:1 coaching", the Palace explained.

Markle, 37, who is pregnant and expecting this spring, also revealed that she's been working with Smart Works for months now. The Duchess has privately been working with the charity over the past year.

In 2016 the Queen, now aged 92, stepped down as patron from more than 20 national organisations, handing on the roles to other members of the royal family.

During her visit, Meghan Markle was chatting to Lady Juliet Hughes-Hallett, a former Vogue Editor.

Patronages are often life-long commitments, with the chosen royal having a strong interest in the subject matter.

Rumours of a royal rift between the women began swirling after news emerged that Meghan and Harry will move away from Kensington Palace to make their home 25 miles away from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in Windsor.

Other organizations she has been a part of as a vocal feminist include One World Vision and United Nations Women.
