After joining his new club side, Fabregas described the move as "a new project", calling it a "great honour".

'Michy? I know him, we rubbed shoulders with Belgium, he is a player who can be interesting, ' Henry said.

Fabregas was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge and appeared to wave goodbye to fans after Chelsea were forced to a goalless draw at home by Southampton.

It is hoped he will play a key role in helping the 2017 Ligue 1 champions avoid relegation. "It is a quality squad with young players and a young coach", said Fabregas, referring to former France striker Henry. "We have a big game against Marseille on Sunday, I'm very excited".

The club added: "There is no doubt Fabregas's place in the Chelsea history books is assured given his achievements over the past four-and-a-half seasons".

The 31-year-old signed a three-and-a-half-year-deal with the French club.

Police have quickly ruled out any terror link or link to the ongoing yellow vest protests planned for the city later on Saturday. There has been a loud explosion in the centre of Paris , police have confirmed.

Fabregas arrived at Stamford Bridge as a 2012 European Championship and 2010 World Cup victor with Spain.

The original plan was for Chelsea to only let Fabregas go when replacements have been found.

So, who should the Blues be looking at to replace the 110-time Spanish global? Pretty much everything Sarri asks from his deep-lying midfielder.

Cesc Fabregas is an assist merchant. However, that deal is anything but done, meaning other clubs could still swoop in for the Frenchman.

The Spanish midfielder began his career in England at Arsenal after joining them from Barcelona's academy and was named as the club's captain in 2008. It might be a wildcard, but it would be an incredible piece of business.
