A winter storm will track through the region Saturday through Sunday.

A sharp gradient of snow is expected beginning late tonight in central IL and southernmost portions of the Chicago area, spreading north and east over much of northeast IL into northwest Indiana Saturday as low pressure tracks from the Texas Panhandle east through Tennessee.

Many roads will be slick, with travel most hazardous Saturday morning. Some of the snow will become mixed with rain on Saturday, mainly in east central IL and areas along and south of I-70.

"While an additional 1" maybe 2" is possible we're still going to be dealing with the bulk of the snow from this storm system occurring before sunrise. Wind chills will be held to the teens and 20s all day.

Snow will be likely Saturday morning and into the afternoon, with temperatures expected to stay in the lower 30s. Be careful if you plan on driving to the game! This will produce storm total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches with locally higher amounts.

If cold air hangs on a little longer, more snow could be expected. The next chance of precipitation may not be until late Friday into next Saturday with rain changing over to snow (almost very similar to the storm system today/tomorrow).
