Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.) said she would "never apologize for being me" when asked Tuesday if she had any regrets about referring to President Donald Trump as a "motherfucker" last week while discussing the likelihood of impeachment.

Less than a week after the comments were made, Tlaib, the newly sworn-in Democratic lawmaker from MI, described the situation as having been a learning experience, NBC News reported. "I do apologize for the use of my words distracting us". "I'm sorry"? Is it fair to say you don't feel comfortable going that far?" "And that's the only thing I will apologize for, is that it was a distraction", Tlaib said.

When Rashida Tlaib was sworn into Congress on Thursday, her election had already made history - and there, in the U.S. Capitol, her attire followed suit.

"People love you and you win", the video showed Tlaib telling supporters.

Tlaib, whose office proudly sports a world map that wipes out the State of Israel with a post-in note that instead names the country "Palestine", wrote in her tweet, "They forgot what country they represent".

"I won't apologize for being upset or angry", she said on "Democracy Now".

"By the way, because I was a prosecutor for many years, including the attorney general of California, (and) I specialized on transnational criminal organizations", she added.

In response to her initial remarks, Trump labeled them "disgraceful" and ones that both "dishonored herself and dishonored her family".
