Man arrested after grabbing fast-food clerk in fight over straw

The man reached across the counter, toppling a completed order with fries, and grabbed the collar of a female employee's shirt.

According to WFTS, a new law in St. Petersburg took effect January 1 requiring customers to ask for a straw at restaurants instead of them being openly available. According to a woman who filmed the encounter, the fight broke out after Taylor was unable to find a straw in the restaurant and was told by James that customers by law must ask for straws.

St. Petersburg police say the video shows Daniel Taylor grabbing Yasmine James' shirt. James retaliates and defends herself by hitting him back before being pried away by fellow employees.

Daniel Willis Taylor, 40, was later arrested for the attack and charged with two counts of simple battery. At the end of the video, the thug says, "I was just asking you a f***ing question, bitch". When he noticed there were none, she says he began screaming at the employees.

Our reporters have spoken to the McDonald's employee Yasmine James who tells us she has not been fired following this incident, as rumors circulating on social media claim.

At this point, other workers intervene and successfully separate the two - but they let the white customer stay in the store even though he aggressively attacked one of their colleagues. After this fight, he came back and went behind the counter & tried to fight the manager.

"You're fixing to go to jail", the employee responds.

Taylor was escorted out of the restaurant and police were called to the scene.

By the time police arrived, the man had left the McDonald's, she said. He reportedly kicked another employee in the stomach on his way out. On his way out the door, he kicked another employee in the stomach.

A representative of the St Petersburg Police Department told Yahoo Lifestyle that the security tape is not being released at this stage of the investigation.
