YouTube Rewind video is the most disliked YouTube video ever

When YouTube was met with the initial tidal wave of negativity, many waited to see what the response from the video-sharing website would be to either amend or dismiss the issue.

In his own reaction post, he suggested the site's community and YouTube now itself saw the video as two different things - with users believing it should be "a big celebration" of what happened on the site that year. It overtook the previous record holder, Justin Bieber's Baby, which had received 9.8 million dislikes but at least, Justin's music video had gotten more thumbs up with 10 million likes.

Bieber's "Baby" long held the crown for most disliked video. Brownlee argued that "the problem with YouTube pretty simple, actually".

"Thanks to the creators that took part in Rewind, and the community that responded", the company said. His main point boils down to his belief that YouTube started thinking about YouTube Rewind as the ideal (and highly sanitized) showcase for advertisers.

"YouTube 'Rewind, ' in a way, turned into a giant ad for YouTube", Brownlee added. And PewDiePie, who lost the support of Disney and YouTube in 2017 after media reports on the Nazi jokes on his channel, has remained the platform's biggest creator. YouTube Rewind 2018 failed at doing that, according to numerous platform's top creators. The corporate folks over at YouTube did their darndest to see what the kids were up to and to put it all into a video that would sum up the year 2018.

PewDiePie and other creators have strongly criticised the video and have also accused of the company of including advertiser friendly content in the video and of neglecting the viewers and popular cultural moments.

Other huge YouTube moments from 2018, such as the Logan Paul vs KSI boxing match, were also omitted. Fans feel that even though these creators are controversial, leaving them out means not giving a full picture of YouTube in 2018.
