"And that's part of that front foot mentality - you've got to go and win the ball, and go and challenge against these boys, put a marker on the game, not only with good tackles, but with good play".

He also hit back at Klopp with reference to another first-half incident, suggesting his opposite number had failed to talk about Daniel Sturridge appearing to dive when winning a free-kick just outside Burnley's penalty area.

"It happened four or five times, everybody likes it, but Joe is injured, and probably not only a little bit".

Gomez has been one of Liverpool's best players so far this season, shining at centre-back and maturing into one of the best young defenders in Europe.

"I think the only one that was questionable was from Bardo [Phil Bardsley]".

The centre-back has had scans on the injury in the last few days and today, the club has confirmed that he has ruptured the cruciate ligament of his left knee.

"That was the message we received after". That left Dyche perplexed, and prompted the Burnley manager to say: "I notice he did not make any reference to Daniel Sturridge cheating".

"We don't know in the moment, we sent him home so we have to see, but it's his ankle yes".

"We all want to win football games, and there are different ways of doing it".

"Our lads went about their business terrifically last night and everyone else apart from the manager seemed to agree", he added.
