Ms Haley has served almost two years in the post.

Her rise since then has been stunning. She was an anchor for Fox and Friends, the Fox News Channel morning program that Trump says he watches regularly.

After Trump was inaugurated as president in January 2017, Nauert became - with no experience in government, foreign policy or politics - the spokeswoman at the State Department.

Now the spokesperson for the State Department, Nauert is regarded as a close ally of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

He noted that Nauert has worked at the State Department for almost two years, and she has been involved in key meetings and discussions, including working very closely with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. She oversaw public diplomacy in Washington and all of the roughly 275 overseas U.S. embassies, consulates and other posts.

In October, Haley announced that she was leaving the post by the end of the year. She hadn't specialized in foreign policy or worldwide relations.

However, the newly-minted envoy appears to have already marked a place for herself in history books due to her inimitable industriousness.

He said by the end of the walk she calmed down and realized that if she hadn't bullied others she would still be on the bus. Cox posted video of the punishment - and was swiftly met with the typical online cacophony of applause and boos.

The television-loving president has chosen a series of Fox personalities for high-level posts and consultation.

According to CAIR, while at Fox News, Nauert interviewed "notorious Islamophobes", including Robert Spencer, Frank Gaffney and Nonie Darwish. She is a graduate of the Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and Mount Vernon College in Washington.

He had previously named John Bolton, a former United Nations ambassador who was a Fox contributor, as his national security adviser and Bill Shine, a former Fox co-president as his deputy White House chief of staff in charge of communications, the newspaper reported. Last year, Mr. Barr told the New York Times that there was more basis to investigate a uranium company merger deal and its links to the Clintons than there was to probe any Russia-Trump connections statements that are likely to rile the Democrats.

Under Tillerson, Nauert grew frustrated at not having close access to her immediate boss and had been seen as quitting to return to NY, where her family has remained.

"If Nauert seems familiar, it's not just because of her State Department briefings".

Nauert has served as the State Department's spokeswoman since April 2017 - and it reportedly wasn't all happy times.

President Trump has picked Heather Nauert, the State Department's spokeswoman, as the next ambassador to the United Nations.

She has been the front runner for the United Nations post for some weeks and last month President Trump said she was under "under very serious consideration".
