Friends is not leaving Netflix - for now

Whereas in the United States, the service provider simultaneously confirmed that 'Friends will still be there for you in the USA for the duration of 2019'.

Three years after landing on Netflix, there's been an uptick in chatter over the last couple of months that NBC's mega-popular sitcom Friends may be finally leaving the streaming service come January 1st. He told THR that the "departure is a rumor".

This is good news for fans who've been enjoying the show on Netflix, and experienced a massive freakout when they saw an onscreen message proclaiming the show would only be available to stream until January 1, 2019.

Thankfully, Netflix came out and assured folks that Friends will remain on Netflix throughout 2019, with CCO Ted Sarandos going so far as to say that Friends leaving Netflix was simply "a rumor".

In a statement posted on Twitter, Netflix confirmed Friends will remain available to stream in the U.S. through the end of 2019. However representatives for Warner Bros.

Request for comment from Netflix was not immediately returned.

Friends will be staying on Netflix through 2019, ET has learned. The streaming network does not reveal ratings, but I'm willing to bet it's one of the most-watched series on the streaming service around the world. But it seemed like it was worth it.

In recent months, WarnerMedia has announced that it plans to release its own streaming app late next year, where Friends, a property of the corporation, will likely become available. The series is one of the most popular of all time, and it has a huge following on Netflix.
