Facebook and Instagram hit by service issue

Facebook has begun rolling out a feature that shows you how much time you spend using the social network, as first reported by TechCrunch.

Users of both platforms have reported being unable to open pages or sections on the apps, with Facebook's developer website confirming the company is now looking into the issue.

Facebook acknowledged their mistake and apologised to the users.

Facebook is now down for many users. And the company confirmed the outages in an email to the news outlet.

The hashtag #FacebookDown was trending on Twitter. The outage also hit London, according to the map, along with pockets in Asia, South America and the Middle East.

Facebook's outage appears to be global.

Facebook said users were having trouble accessing the social network and its other applications such as Instagram, but did not explain the cause of the outages.

"We know some people are having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps".

Well, the social media giant is down again, along with its counterpart, Instagram.

"The issue has since been resolved, we are back to 100 percent for everyone, and we're sorry for any inconvenience".
