Nancy Pelosi is making gender a central part of her bid to reclaim the speaker's gavel - leaning hard into the pitch that Democrats can not oust the only woman at their leadership table following a historic election for women.

While Pelosi needs just a majority of Democrats to nominate her as their candidate for speaker when the caucus holds leadership elections on November 28, she will need at least 218 Democrats' support on the floor assuming all 435 members participate and all Republicans vote against her. "We have to get to 100 percent renewable energy".

"If the Democrats think they are going to waste Taxpayer Money investigating us at the House level, then we will likewise be forced to consider investigating them for all of the leaks of Classified Information, and much else, at the Senate level".

"We welcome this support, but words aren't enough". He said Tuesday that he and other opponents are gathering signatures of Democrats who are committed to voting against Pelosi on the floor and would "like to" release it before the November 28 vote.

One option they are exploring is tinkering with the threshold she needs to clinch the gavel: Pelosi can win on the floor with less than 218 votes if she can convince her critics not to vote, or vote "present", instead of for her or another candidate.

"We are trying to do the right thing for the party by solving this ahead of time", Moulton said.

"It was one individual who worked with many others but as the leader made it happen", she told reporters. Newly elected progressive Democrat starlets are "overplaying their hand" and may make it increasingly hard for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) "to move forward" with the party's agenda after the 2018 midterm elections, attorney Harmeet Dhillon said Tuesday night on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle".

"Never count out Nancy Pelosi", he said.

"The bottom line here is we won back Congress". Pelosi is widely expected to once again assume the mantle of House Speaker and has always been one of the most powerful Democrats in Washington. According to a CNN tally, 10 incoming freshman have said they'd oppose Pelosi, while 13 incumbents have vowed to oppose her.

Thanks to her sheer force of will and determination, along with her follow members of Congress who put the health of the American people first, the ACA was signed in March 2010. After the 2016 elections, 63 Democrats opposed Pelosi in the leadership races but almost all of them voted for her later on the floor.
