Cardinals’ Fitzgerald makes more history in another loss

Chandler Jones recorded two sacks and Rodney Gunter added another despite allowing two touchdown passes to the vaunted Chiefs offense.

Villalobos finished his final game with 93 yards rushing on 17 carries, and was 7 of 14 passing for 93 yards, one TD and three interceptions. With a couple touchdowns, 117 yards and seven receptions on 10 targets, Hill is far more than the "return man" a certain cornerback portrayed him to be.

Hill celebrated the touchdown by leaping into the camera bay in the stands behind the end zone, briefly taking control of the camera.

"We needed all 31 of those touchdowns", Hunt said, "and we got them".

Turpin racked up 254 yards and two touchdowns in the first half, and if not for a pick-six, would have held the Chiefs to a single score in the first half.

"I think it's a great start".

And while Fitzgerald is nearly certain to fall short of the numbers he is accustomed to producing, he is nevertheless providing another year of invaluable service: He's the steady, capable and wise veteran in the ear of Josh Rosen, who is expected to lead the Cardinals for years to come.

Fitzgerald has 15,902 yards receiving, and he needs 33 more to pass Terrell Owens for second place behind Jerry Rice on the career list. "The celebration, it just come into my head and I did it".

"We take a lot of pride", said linebacker Justin Houston, who returned against the Cardinals after missing the previous four games because of a sore hamstring. Hill called the celebration a spur of the moment idea.

"Our opening drives were pretty long and sustainable and kept our defense (fresh) with pretty well-time possessions", Rosen said. "I was not happy".

Let's check out the good, the bad, and the ugly from this weekend's win.

Wilks said the Cardinals emphasized looking for Fitzgerald in the second half. "I've seen it", Reid said, "but I think the National Football League is on top of it". They led for all but about six minutes against the Cardinals and didn't need to be concerned as much about Arizona's running game as they would have in a game in which they were tied or behind.

The defense gave up scoring drives to the Cardinals to open the first and third quarters, but made adjustments to clamp down after that.

Either way, the Chiefs now look forward to facing the Los Angeles Rams in a battle for the league's best record in Mexico City next week. He needs to build on his performance against Arizona, even if it means sacrificing a triple digits in yardage, to continue developing into a complete back who's utility goes beyond being a ball-carrier.
