California fires: Malibu residents ordered to evacuate

Fire crews are calling for more evacuations as several wildfires rage throughout Northern and Southern California.

As the Woolsey fire approaches Malibu, all areas south of the 101 Freeway from Ventura County line to Las Virgenes/Malibu Cyn, southward to the ocean, were told to leave immediately after the fire jumped the 101 at Liberty Cyn Rd and Chesebro Rd in nearby Agoura Hills.

One of the fires broke out Thursday north-west of Los Angeles and roared south, jumping the USA 101 freeway early Friday and sweeping into the Santa Monica Mountains.

"We are still reeling, but we are also very resilient", she said.

A 1,500-acre fire burning near Suisun City in Solano County has not prompted evacuation orders or threatened structures.

Multiple fires were reported at more than 10,000 acres with high rate of spread and mandatory evacuation orders in place as of 8 a.m. Friday, according to Cal Fire.

The Woolsey fire was one of three ravaging the state, with the northern California town of Paradise in Butte County largely destroyed overnight.

Kourtney Kardashian also posted about the emergency on her Instagram story, writing, "I pray that everyone is kept safe and protested from these fires".

The status of Kim and Kourtney's homes is unknown at the moment but TMZ is reporting that Caitlyn Jenner was not so lucky.

A second fire has been burning in the Santa Rosa Valley east of Camarillo, west of Simi Valley near Newbury Park and Thousand Oaks. The highway is expected to remain closed Friday morning, Ventura County Fire Chief Mark Lorenzen said.

While no homes or businesses have been lost due to the fast-moving blaze, a number of RVs and outbuildings have been burned and a firefighter suffered a minor injury, authorities said.

Fire officials initially ordred the evacuation of all 13,000 residents of the community, which stretches 21 miles along the ocean, but later scaled it back to the western two-thirds of the city.

North of Kanan Road, west of Lindero Canyon to SR-23 extending north of Sunset Hills Boulevard along Erbes Road to Olson Road.

Winds calmed in some areas and intensified in others Friday morning, National Weather Service forecasts show.

While not as big as the Camp Fire, the Woolsey Fire, which now measures approximately 8,000 acres, is in a much more densely populated area.
