A brothel owner and reality TV star has won his race in Nevada - even though he died last month.

Hof, who ran as a Republican, defeated Democratic challenger Lesia Romanov by more than 7,000 votes, the office said.

It has been learnt that there are procedures in place to ensure that local county commissioners may appoint another Republican to fill his seat, when the posthumous victory is confirmed.

Hof also ran for the state Legislature in 2016 as a Libertarian but lost the race.

Dennis Hof, unfortunately, won't be able to serve the people of Nevada - 'cause he's dead and all - so the Silver State's running good old-fashioned want ads to find a replacement.

He was believed to have died in his sleep.

In a June interview with Reuters at Moonlite BunnyRanch, his brothel near his home in Pahrump, Nevada, Hof said his political fortunes had parallels with those of US President Donald Trump.

72 year old Hof died unexpectedly at his brothel - called "The Love Ranch" - last month, according to the Nye County Sheriff's Office.

Sure, they help, but it's not the biggest indicator of them all and we think that the club themselves even know that's the truth. The Blues - who are now unbeaten - climbed above Liverpool into second place after their 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Hof owned seven legal brothels in Nevada, where the legality of prostitution is determined on a county-by-county basis.

Hof, 72, was found dead by porn actor Ron Jeremy on October 16 at the Love Ranch, one of the brothels Hof owned in Nevada.

The brothel where his body was found is where National Basketball Association player Lamar Odom, who had a tumultuous relationship with reality television star Khloe Kardashian, was found unconscious in 2015.

He continued the festivities at his brothel with rap star Flavor Flav and porn star Ron Jeremy, who found Hof dead.

The district is heavily rural, containing large desert areas in the southern region of Nevada.

He said he faced political retribution this year in the form of an anti-brothel push and regulatory problems.

"This really is the Trump movement", Mr Hof said.

It was too late to remove his name from the ballot paper, where Hof stood for the Nevada State Assembly - and voters selected him, despite widespread coverage of his death.
