"Here we go", Trump said to Acosta.

"I'm not concerned about anything with the Russian investigation because it's a hoax", Trump snapped.

'That's enough, ' Trump said pointing at Acosta, who kept trying to talk.

"Honestly I think that you should let me run the country, you run CNN, and if you did it well, your ratings will be much better", Trump said. "It was true. Do you think they were actors? You are a rude, bad person; you shouldn't be working for CNN", said the president, pointing right at Acosta.

Acosta then stood up again to try and ask another question, prompting Trump to order him to "just sit down, please".

Speaking in the East Room of the White House, Mr Trump said his party had held off Democrats in key Senate races despite a "dramatic fundraising disadvantage" and "very hostile media coverage". You shouldn't be working for CNN.

Acosta was helped by fellow reporter and NBC correspondent Peter Alexander, who called Acosta a "diligent reporter who busts his butt".

He repeatedly shut down CNN's April Ryan when she tried to ask a question, refusing to cede the microphone to her. And the way you treat other people is frightful.

Federal Aviation Administration, which certificated the 737 Max, hasn't taken any steps to require inspections of the plane. Investigators who analyzed the flight data recorder after the October 29 crash uncovered the fault, the committee said.

'The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is disgusting, ' he said.

The shocking exchange came as Acosta was asking the president about the migrant caravan.

"Well, I'm not a big fan of yours either", Trump said, as some people in the audience laughed.

"CNN is fake news", Trump said.

"I don't know why you'd say that". The president continued to excoriate Acosta saying how he treats his press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, in the press briefings is bad.

"It's such a hostile media".

"I don't believe that", Trump continued, adding, "Why do I have my highest poll numbers with African-Americans?".
