Over the weekend, Thompson's Saturday Night Live cast-mate Pete Davidson found himself embroiled in scandal after making a joke about Texas second Congressional District candidate Dan Crenshaw, who wears an eye-patch because of an injury he sustained while serving as a Navy SEAL in Afghanistan.

Davidson's segment on Weekend Update kicked off with his first impressions of several midterms candidates, though he didn't claim to be an expert on the races.

"This guy is kind of cool - Dan Crenshaw".

"You may be surprised to hear that he's a congressional candidate from Texas and not a hitman in a porno movie", Davidson said. Laughing, Davidson said, "I'm sorry, I know he lost his eye in war, or whatever".

However, Crenshaw went on to offer some comedy advice to Davidson. Crenshaw lost his eye during combat.

Lowe's to close 31 stores across Canada
Most associates at these stores will be extended opportunities to transition to a similar role at a nearby Lowe's store. In addition to the 31 Canadian stores, Lowe's is also planning to close 20 locations in the United States.

In a tweet Sunday afternoon, Crenshaw acknowledged the outrage over Davidson's joke.

But Crenshaw did not demand an apology from Davidson or NBC. "They took some time to stabilize me in Afghanistan and do the surgery to remove my right eye". "But to not be prepared for it, I think, would be a disservice to the American people".

On Sunday, Crenshaw, who faces Democrat Todd Litton on Tuesday, reacted to the joke in a tweet, writing that, "I hope @nbcsnl recognizes that vets don't deserve to see their wounds used as punchlines for bad jokes". They can do whatever they want. Thompson told Today that Davidson's joke "definitely missed the mark", and he said that it's easy to cross a line when you're "fishing for jokes".

"I realized there are some really gross people running for office this year, ' he continued, first joking that Florida Senate candidate Rick Scott looked like 'someone tried to whittle Bruce Willis out of a penis".

He went on to say that Davidson and NBC are likely "feeling the heat from around the country right now" and that he doesn't need to demand an apology from them.
