Khashoggi's sons ask for their father's boddy

A senior official of Turkey's ruling party who is a friend of Khashoggi's suggested his body may have been dissolved in acid or other chemicals. "Or he had a peaceful death", Abdullah Khashoggi told the U.S. network during the interview in Washington.

The brothers said they trying to piece together an understanding of their father's death.

"UN member states must end their deafening silence on Saudi Arabia and do their duty of scrutinizing the cruelty in the kingdom in order to prevent further outrageous human rights violations in the country and in Yemen", Samah Hadid, Amnesty International's Middle East director of campaigns, said in a statement.

Saudi officials initially insisted Khashoggi had left the consulate, then said he died in an unplanned "rogue operation".

"I really hope that whatever happened wasn't painful for him, or it was quick", Abdullah Khashoggi said.

Many Western delegations called on Riyadh to abolish the death penalty and the system of male guardianship over women, and to narrow the definition of "terrorism" in law so that peaceful critics are not prosecuted.

A Turkish official says two men were sent to erase evidence of journalist Jamal Khashoggi's murder a week after he disappeared at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. His remains have not been recovered.

Activists have urged countries to hold Saudi Arabia to account.

On Saturday, Sabah newspaper, which is close to the Turkish government, said Khashoggi's body - which still hasn't been found - was dismembered and removed from the Saudi Consulate in five suitcases.

Turkish media have pointed the finger at powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and analysts have said Ankara is keen to have the heir sidelined from the nexus of power in Riyadh.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday also thanked Trump for the sanctions against his country's main enemy. The renewed sanctions are designed "to paralyse the (Iran's) economy and keep it backwards".

"Khashoggi's body was not in need of burying", the official said, according to The Post.

The kingdom maintains that Khashoggi's body was wrapped in a rug and disposed of by a "local collaborator" who has not been identified.

In an interview with CNN, the sons also said they hoped he did not suffer when he was killed.

The brothers said that Khashoggi used to be "courageous", "generous" and "very fearless".

"Our source is the same source that you have". That everybody is seeking for information just as we do. "On the other hand, we have a responsibility towards the Saudi people, and we must carry out our responsibility rather than turn our backs on them".

"It's confusing and hard", Abdullah Khashoggi said.

"It's not a normal situation, it's not a normal death at all".

Al-Waleed claimed to be "on excellent terms with the crown prince, the king and Saudi Arabia". "And I have faith in that".
