Bungie and Activision announced at BlizzCon that Destiny 2 is free to download and play on PC, though you have to act relatively fast-it's a limited time offer that expires in a couple of weeks.

If you ever wanted to try Destiny 2 and you aren't gaming on consoles, or wanted to try it out on PC but didn't want to spring for it, now's your chance!

To be clear, this is for the base game, which you'll own even after the expiration period (provided you claim it before then). Keep in mind, only the base game is free, but this does include all of the balance and economy changes that have happened since launch.

In order to redeem your free copy, just head to this page, log in to your Blizzard account (or create one), and click on the big blue CLAIM button on the Destiny 2 gift you should have received. For those who already own Destiny 2 on PC, you'll get an anniversary emblem.

Accessibility is key for service games, and nothing's more accessible than free.

To claim Destiny 2, fire up the Battle.net app and click on the gift icon in the upper-right, as indicated above. On that end, Bungie is also planning to hold a free trial for the PvPvE mode Gambit.

Destiny 2 launched on Xbox and PS4 on September 6th of a year ago, followed by its PC launch through Battle.net on October 24th.

Destiny 2 is an online-only multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie and Activision.
