The big day isn't until next week for the midterm elections, but Oklahoma voters can get an early start. Turnout during presidential election cycles is typically much higher than for midterms.

Meanwhile, battleground states like Texas - where progressive candidates like Beto O'Rourke have threatened to unseat Republican incumbents like Ted Cruz - have seen record-level early voter turnout ahead of Election Day.

"This is the first time we're going to have a presidential-type vote, where you're going to see the majority of voters casting their ballots early", said Hector de Leon, spokesman for the clerk's office. If average turnout on Friday comes in at around 60,500, the county could come close to or exceed 1 million ballots cast by the end of the election.

A further 19 USA states and the District of Columbia have also outperformed their 2014 early voting turnout, according to political scientist Michael P. McDonald of the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Police to monitor sex offenders on Halloween
The offenders will be placed in the Council Chambers on Halloween night from 6pm-9pm, Mayor Gary Jones said on Facebook last week. And though some on the registry have sexually abused children, they're probably not going to target random kids on Halloween .

Early voting ran from October 22 to November 2.

The Voter Service and Polling Centers across the state will be open through Election Day, except for Sunday, Nov. 4.

Over 3 million people have already voted by mail and returned their ballots, or voted early.
