Smith 'hoping' for trade from Cavs

"After Mr. Boyland hired [Cleveland law firm Thorman Petrov Group], Christopher Thorman wrote to the Cavaliers initially to "informally" resolve matters related to Mr. Boylan's employment, only to then follow up with an outrageous written demand for $6.174 million dollars", the team said in a statement. He was inactive for the Cavs' season-opener against the Toronto Raptors and did not play in Tuesday's win against the Atlanta Hawks.

The NBA collective bargaining agreement doesn't allow players to make public trade requests and ESPN reported the league was already looking into Smith's comments.

According to Marla Ridenour of the Akron Beacon Journal, Smith says it's hard to even put on a Cleveland jersey right now.

Love's injury and extended recovery are going to make things even tougher on a team that is 1-7 and regrouping after coach Tyronn Lue was sacked Sunday.

Sources told that after sensing poor body language from Smith and worrying about how his attitude could impact the team, Altman sat down with Smith a few days ago and asked the 33-year-old guard whether he wanted to stay around while being glued to the bench. "But at the end of the day I can't take it out on my teammates".

However, Jadeja forced Dhoni and Kohli to go for it and it was only then the skipper agreed to take the review. Rohit-led India defeated Hong Kong by 26 runs after coming considerably close to suffering an embarrassment.

"They know", Smith said. "They don't want me here, so they obviously know".

Overall, Smith has not played in three of the Cavs' seven games to date. It seems Smith doesn't want to wait until February, though.

The 6-foot-6 veteran has started 218 of 248 games since the Cavs acquired him in 2015.

Smith has had a rocky relationship with Cleveland fans, some of whom love his care-free spirit while others still blame him for losing track of the score in the closing seconds of Game 1 in last year's NBA Finals.
