Winfrey has since dismissed the notion that she would challenge Trump in 2020.

The entertainment icon, who rarely makes political endorsements, drew cheers when she said she's a registered independent who was not in Georgia at anyone's request.

"Well, I think they would want them to vote, but not certainly not vote based on one's identity", Aubrey Shines said in a video message.

Winfrey has always been rumored to be a 2020 presidential candidate, but she quelled those rumors in her Thursday speech. "I want to make it very clear ..."

"All of us may have been created equal, but if you're woke. you've got sense enough to know that everybody is not treated equally", she said. "I'm not testing the waters", Winfrey said.

Mr Pence has criticised Ms Abrams for using Ms Winfrey during her campaign.

"This raises grave concerns for the Court about the differential treatment inflicted on a group of individuals who are predominantly minorities, ' Ross" order said.

Kemp and Democratic Stacey Abrams are locked in a tight race that offers a stark choice in a state accustomed to business-minded, centrist governors.

At least seven killed in attack on Coptic Christian bus in Egypt
I am deeply saddened by the martyrs who fell today by treacherous hands seeking to undermine the fabric of a cohesive homeland. The attack took place very close to the spot where gunmen killed 28 Christians in a similar attack in May previous year .

Pence was speaking at a campaign event for Republican Georgia gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp.

Friday night, former president Barack Obama will speak at a rally at Morehouse College supporting Abrams.

On Sunday, President Trump is rallying for Kemp.

The state requires identification information on voter registration applications to precisely match information already on file with the Georgia Department of Driver Services or the Social Security Administration.

As a black woman, Winfrey noted her kinship to two groups historically denied ballot access in the United States. She recalled generations of black Americans who faced "lynching ... oppression ... suppression", and declared that "their blood has seeped into my DNA" and forced her to the polls. Actor Michael B. Jordan has knocked on doors in Atlanta urging black voters to turn out, and Actor and comedian Will Ferrell has also canvassed for Abrams' campaign.

The pitches from Pence and Winfrey clearly fit Abrams' and Kemp's respective strategies.

A USA judge on Friday ordered Georgia to allow some 3,000 recently naturalized US citizens to vote in elections next week after their voting registrations were put on hold, according to a ruling filed in federal court in Atlanta. Goosing a GOP base that holds Trump and Pence in high regard is key to the approach.

"For anybody here who has an ancestor who didn't have the right to vote, and you are choosing not to vote - wherever you are in this state, in this country - you are dishonoring your family", Winfrey said in Marietta, Georgia, an Atlanta suburb.
