Just tap the ^ button once you've begun a trip, and a list of frequent contacts will pop up. The change for Android users is that you can share your trip progress with people via other apps. Opening in Google Maps, the recipient will see your progress on a live map with your name, avatar, and current mode of transportation. Naturally, once your journey ends, you'll automatically stop sharing your location.

Journey sharing is rolling out for driving, walking, and cycling navigation on Android and iOS for those of you in "mixed" households.

It has been over a year since Google introduced the ability to share your real-time location within Google Maps with folks you choose, and now the feature is getting improved.

That feature, Google announced today, has now been added to the iOS version.

This update - available via the Play Store and the App Store now - makes sharing your location easier by eliminating the need to manually send it via a separate text message. The update also allows for sharing location across third-party apps like Messenger, WhatsApp, and more, allowing users to communicate with their loved ones on the platforms they prefer.
