Prince Harry and Meghan given some very Australian baby gifts

Just one day after Markle and Prince Harry landed in Australia to kick off their first royal tour as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Kensington Palace announced that the lovebirds are expecting their first child together. The Palace also revealed that the Queen along with the Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Camilla and Prince William and Kate Middleton were "delighted" when they found out about the news.

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby.

The visit to Australia is their first overseas tour since Harry, 34, married the US television star Meghan Markle in May.

It's been quite a whirlwind year for Meghan and Harry - in less than one year, they got engaged, tied the knot AND found out she's pregnant!

Princess Eugenie has only just hung up her wedding gown, and already her cousin Prince Harry has stolen the spotlight.

Tuesday is the first opportunity for the public to interact with the couple - and to be the first to congratulate the royal couple.

"I've been following them since the wedding", 90-year-old retiree Edward Atkinson told Agence France-Presse, adding that he would be looking out for any signs of Meghan's pregnancy. Prince Charles is now next in line, followed by Prince William and his kids.

As a result, they were forced to share the news a few weeks early.

She captivated Britain. There was an ease to her confident smile, and contagious excitement about moving across the Atlantic and joining the royal family.

The occasion Omarked their first time meeting with members of the Australian public as a couple - the first of many to come during their Royal Tour.

The royal couple was driven from the airport to Admiralty House, the official Sydney residence of Governor General Peter Cosgrove, who represents Australia's head of state, Queen Elizabeth II, Harry's grandmother.
