In her resignation letter, Haley praised the president for keeping a commitment to her that she would be "free to speak my mind on the issues of the day". Haley's resignation was a closely guarded secret. But the group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, said in its complaint that Haley's financial disclosure did not provide enough information to make the assertion that the flights between New York, Washington, DC, and three SC cities qualified for the exemption.

Trump said there are a number of people who would like to do this job and that this is a more glamorous position that it was a couple of years ago, appreciating her work. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.

She has also overseen the Trump administration's hostile approach to the UN.

Haley's is also the first major administration exit since that anonymous New York Times op-ed in which a still-unknown "senior administration official" talked about how officials were working to check Trump's impulses and even undermine him in certain ways.

Haley had been an early and frequent critic of Trump, so when he named her the envoy to the world body weeks after his election in November 2016, the appointment was seen as an olive branch.

Tensions bubbled up between Haley and Trump in April when Vice President Mike Pence hired a long-time Haley aide and Republican pollster as his national security adviser, prompting speculation that Haley and Pence were forging a political alliance, White House advisers said.

The former SC governor has been a strong advocate of Trump's foreign policy. We passed the toughest sanctions against any country in a generation, pressuring North Korea toward denuclearization.

Her status as a potential candidate for national high office was boosted in 2015 when she ordered the Confederate battle flag to be pulled down at South Carolina's state capitol grounds after a white supremacist gunman shot dead nine black worshipers at a church.

The Paris-based group called corruption and collusion between media, politicians, and oligarchs "widespread". They did not offer any new details about the case after their meeting with the local authorities.

In December, she said that women who had accused Trump of sexual misconduct "should be heard".

President Donald Trump has accepted the resignation of UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, multiple outlets reported Tuesday.

The New York Times noted Trump's nomination of her to the United Nations post was an olive branch of sorts to the Republican establishment after the bruising 2016 cycle. The envoy focused her two-year tenure at the United Nations combating hostility toward the Jewish state.

The hiring of national security adviser John Bolton in March, a former United Nations ambassador with hardened views on its limited value, further limited her latitude in NY.

"Look at the two years, look at what has happened in two years with the United States on foreign policy".

The complaint noted she accepted flights from three separate businessmen from her home state of SC on luxury aircraft between the state and Washington, D.C. She was accompanied by her husband on the flights. The latter two are CEOs of private companies in SC.

Haley, in turn, thanked Trump and praised members of his family before mentioning her own family. She was by all means a class act.
